Antifolk Spring Fest at Knitting Factory
Greetings! Please join us at The Knitting Factory on Tuesday, April 2nd for our first Antifolk Festival of the year. Help be a part of the Antifolk genre revival, which first grew its roots right here in New York City in the 1980s. 21+, doors at 8:00 PM, music at 8:30.

A stacked bill of talented musicians include:

Prewar Yardsale Prewar Yardsale is a nyc antifolk band! Dina Levy plays found percussive instruments and sings, and Michael Rechner plays the guitar and sings. The band has recorded 3 full length albums and a bunch of eps and singles. Prewar Yardsale appeared on the Rough Trade compilation Antifolk Vol 1 and recorded a Peel session for the BBC, and had toured Europe and played all over nyc!

Joe Bendik Joe Bendik is a NYC based singer/songwriter/musician/producer. In 1986 Bendik moved to New York City (from Pgh) and soon discovered the Antifolk scene (which started in 1984), and has been a part of it ever since. In 2019, after a nearly 5 year hiatus (due to the venue Sidewalk closing), Bendik revived the NYAF scene and it is now in a type of a renaissance. He hosts the weekly Monday night Antihoot Reboot Open Mic in the FeverDream Lounge at Baker Falls, which has been growing every week. His musical influences include Dylan Iggy, Beatles , Marley & Bowie. His music is streaming on all platforms.

Natalie Asport Natalie Asport is an alt-rock singer-songwriter currently based out of New York City. She got her start performing at the now closed NYC Sidewalk Cafe, famously known for its Open Mic and Anti-folk scene. The calibrated artist takes in and blends together many different aspects of art, creativity, life experiences, and storytelling. Along with her music, Asport is a visual artist, game developer, and activist. In March 2020, while she waited until she could perform again, she began vigorously working in her home recording studio in Orlando, FL on a solo album that would summarize the life and world-altering events that took place in 2020. In 2021, she released her first single “Quarantine Song (2 Weeks Self-Quarantine)”. Her first full-length album, “QuaranTUNES” released January 2022 and is a commentary on the social, cultural, and political atmosphere during the pandemic.
